Thank you, Coaches Shelley Armentrout, Jackie Hans and Julie Cameron for sharing the recent success and growth of these young teams:
We have some exciting news about our Junior High Volleyball Team. Our players have been giving their all on the court, and I’m thrilled to provide a recap of the games they've recently played.
August 29 vs. Natalia - This was our first game of the season. The 7th grade girls had strong serving and made great strides in improving their game. The 8th grade girls were relearning to play together and to create a strong front. While they pulled off a strong 1st set, the 8th grade A struggled in set 2 and 3 and Natalia pulled out the win.
September 5 vs. Hondo - Our girls played in two different gyms, so they were down people to cheer for them. We also were missing several players due to cheer so the girls who traveled knew it was going to be tough. Our 7th graders gave everything they had and when we meet Hondo again during our end of season tournament, they will see the improvements and give those girls a much better competition. Our 8th grade girls also were down many players but that did not stop them from providing great competition. Our B team girls only play two games to 25 and although they lost both the girls are beginning to get stronger in serving, moving to the ball and overall play. The 8th grade A team had to play with 6 players only (no subs) and they gave Hondo a fight. The girls took the first set easily, but the 2nd and 3rd proved to be too much for our girls. Their energy began to fall and by the end of the 3rd match they did not have anything left to give. We are excited to see what is going to happen at our end of the year tournament.
September 9 vs. Cotulla - We walked into the gym and our girls were ready to play. Each team worked together, served strong and were victorious! All of our teams came out with wins last night. 7B - Won 1st and 2nd set 25-7 and 25-15; 7A - lost 1st set - 22-25, won 2nd 25-17, won 3rd 15-8; 8B - Won 1st set 26-24, won 2nd 25-17; 8A - Won in 2 sets, 25-9 and 25-7.
Our team has shown tremendous skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship in every match. Each game has been a learning experience, and the players have grown stronger and more cohesive with each challenge.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the team so far, whether by attending the games or cheering them on in spirit. Your encouragement has been a huge boost for our young athletes.
Let’s continue to support our teams as they prepare for their upcoming games. Our next game is Monday against Poteet at Lytle. Go Team!
Thank you,
Coach Armentrout, Coach Hans, and Coach Cameron
