Thank you, Coach Clayton Jopling for sharing the details of how our Junior Varsity Football team turned things around in just one week's time!
Junior Varsity Football was able to bounce back from a tough week one loss against Llano, 28-0. What other week to bounce back than rivalry week! Your JV Pirates traveled down the road to Natalia for a much-awaited game. Our offense set the tone early by starting the game with a four-minute drive that resulted in a rushing touchdown by Matthew Wimer. We continued to fire on all cylinders on the defensive side of the ball as well. All 11 of our pirates were flying to the ball, which made it very difficult for the Mustangs to move the football all game. Our JV defense only let the Mustang offense cross the 50-yard line one time all game. Jayson Fuentes came up huge with an interception that gave our offense great field position. AJ Cantu also contributed offensively with two rushing touchdowns, one of them being a 60 yarder. PJ Gullien helped by punching in a two-point conversion to help seal the win. If you see these young student athletes, please congratulate them on getting their first win of the season. Thanks for all you do for them. If you are free this Thursday afternoon 9-12-2024, come on out and support them for their home opener against the Bandera Bulldogs at 5pm. GO PIRATES!
