Your Lytle Pirate XC Team traveled to Bandera on Saturday to start the last half of the season.
We had a great day as both varsity teams convincingly captured the team titles.
Varsity Girls had a wonderful showing after running 5Ks the past two weeks. It was like they were back in primary getting released for recess as four placed in the top ten on the way to capturing the team title out of nine schools. Frances Scotello had another great day capturing the individual title and pulling her teammates along, including our two freshman (Kaycee and Elyse) to new personal bests. The team's efforts this Saturday definitely put them in medal contention later down the road. It is wonderful to watch this group grow and all this without one senior...a first for us.
We combined most of the Junior Varsity boys with the Varsity boys and ran nine. All nine finished in the top 25 with all five Varsity runners finishing in the top ten. Johnny again led the group to a team title out of 14 schools.
We had two boys in the Junior Varsity division with Anthony Scotello being the best finisher in 21st place.
We had three girls run Junior Varsity with all finishing in the top 15 and Sophia Herrera capturing the individual title. Andrea Gomez finished fifth and Isabella Sewell places 15th.
The team was originally scheduled to travel to Corpus this weekend for the Islander Splash, but due to past and incoming expected weather they canceled the meet. Instead, the team will travel to Uvalde on Thursday.
