FOOTBALL IS BACK!!!!!!
What a great night at Walter Joyce Stadium. Inspired by a dominating performance from our 7th grade FB team, the 8th grade team played with passion and grit to defeat the Natalia Mustangs.
Our offense was led by Burl Jopling (get use to this) with 2 rushing TD’s and 2pt conversion, he ran behind an O-Line (Chevy Frias, Adrian Pantoja, Andrew Frausto, James Thompson, Haven Casias and Ryan Hendrickson) that looked like a group that picked up where they left off last season. Elliot Mata finished off the offensive scoring with a 2 pt. conversion.
The Defense pitched a shut-out by committee. LB’s Jose Rangel, Jose Patlan, Braden Robinette attacked the ball. Safeties Devaun Reed, Xzander Flores, Jaxon Hunt came up big. Shutting down their receivers were Jaden Rios, Landon Spinks, Julio Salazar. DL’s Albin Flores (playing in his first FB game) , Johnathan Whitley, Isaiah Cortez and Silas Smoot gave us very important minutes and played with heart. Christian Cortinas had a Pick-6 in the 2nd quarter to round out the scoring.
We coaches couldn’t be prouder of these young men that come to practice every day and give us and their community all they have.
Next game is Sept. 12 in Bandera.
