Varsity Girls Baksetball at Natalia with Rivalry Trophy. photo by Lori Wilson

The Lady Pirates traveled to Natalia with just seven girls last night, January 23, 2024. Staying out of foul trouble was the main concern, and they got into some during the first half. However, the girls played through, and we ended up taking the win 68-44 to bring home the Rivalry Trophy for the 8th year in a row. Everyone played and contributed to this TEAM win. The girls only shot 38.6%, 22/57, from the field, but free throws were on point, shooting 15/17. The girls had 16 steals and forced Natalia to commit 25 turnovers. The Lady Pirates continued to have big 3rd quarters last night and outscored Natalia 20-7. The girls move to 22-7 for the year and 6-0 in District play. The team is excited as they only have four more District games before starting the postseason. Look forward to what this group does in the Playoffs! The girls are working hard to win the District Title for the fourth year in a row. All three seniors were in double figures!

Congratulations to Captain Senior Calyssa Sevier who was named the MVP for Lytle. She had a double double of 30 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 10 deflections and 3 steals! Congrats to Yahdi Lujan who was the MVP for Natalia!
