Varsity Girls Basketball celebrate Calyssa Sevier reaching 800 steals.

What a night it was here in Lytle on Friday night, January 19, 2024, with a packed house to cheer both the boys' and girls’ basketball teams on. The girls came out strong with defense and were up 14-4 at the end of the 1st quarter. There was no looking back at the half. It was 38-10. The coaches stressed that the defense had to be on point! The girls had 19 steals and forced Crystal City to commit 30 turnovers. The Lady Pirates shot 40% from the field as a team and were 7/9 from the free throw line. They scored 36 points in the paint. When the horn sounded, the girls won 63-35, and the Seniors cheered their teammates on from the bench most of the 4th quarter. The girls finished the first round of play and are 5-0, holding 1st place. The Lady Pirates are 21-7 for the year. The girls are getting better every game, and everyone is contributing. It is so fun to watch. This was a great TEAM win.

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, some of the girls and coach Wilson watched two Lytle teams battle it out in the Lytle Youth Program. There are some great future Pirates coming up. They will be fun to watch when they are all on the same team.

The girls will travel to Natalia on January 23, 2024, to take on the Mustangs in our Rivalry Game! The Varsity girls will play at 6:15pm and the boys will follow. Natalia canceled the Junior Varsity girls' game! Go Pirates!
