Blind Farmer walks with an ax and the chickes are mooing

Last night, November 16, 2023, with just a few days of practice under our belt, the 7th Grade boys were taking on the Cotulla Cowboys here at Lytle.

Just like the picture from above illustrates, with little time to prepare, coaching felt like that from the opening tip.

After 3 minutes into the game and extremely poor play, I felt like Charlie Browns Teacher, and this is all the boys must have heard this week in preparation for the game.

We eventually settled down and got into a rhythm that suited our style of play. Pressing Cotulla and causing turnovers, along with good hustle, enabled us to snatch a victory in a 33-12 win. "Big Daddy" Burl Jopling led the way with 19 points, and good defense projected the 7th grade A team to a 1-0 start in District play.

The 7th grade B-team was led by Julio Salazar and delivered a 19-9 victory. Under the expert tutelage of Rookie Basketball Coach John Stewart, the boys thrived and set the tone for everyone for the rest of the night.

A shout-out to Snoopy for his advice to survive when it comes to fast paced chaos on the court.

Coach Stewart and I would like to wish everyone a Happy, Safe, and Blessed Thanksgiving!

A special thanks to Dr. B for letting these kids know how much they matter.
