On Saturday, 17 members of the LHS Band competed at the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest and represented Lytle extremely well.  For the 7th consecutive year, no Lytle event received a rating lower than a 2nd Division.

Soloists receiving the top rating of 1st Division were:

Freshman - Ethan Esquibel

Junior - Hailey Hughes

Senior - Dylan Martinez

Senior - Brandi Perkins

Freshman - Cheyenne Rodriguez

Junior - Rachel Terzado

and Sophomore - Luiz Tovar

Also receiving 1st Divisions were:  Flute trio composed of Juniors Sandra Angeles, Lauryn Castro and Faith Soto and Brass Quartet composed of Sophomore Kasey Weitzel, Junior Alyssa Salinas, and Seniors Jose Gutierrez and Onofre Vazquez

In order to qualify for State Solo & Ensemble Contest, an event must receive a 1st division, as well as meeting certain additional criteria.  Lytle is going to be very well represented at State this year, with the Flute Trio and the Brass Quartet both qualifying, along with the soloists, Ethan, Dylan, Brandi, Rachel and Luiz.

Congratulations to all our Solo & Ensemble participants, and good luck to the 12 Pirate Band members who qualified for State on May 25th!
