This past week the UIL Academic Team competed in the District Competition in Devine. Placing in events were:

In Computer Applications: 3rd place Johnny Paredes

In Current Events: 6th place Antonio Gonzales

In Headline Writing: 5th place Quinn Hout

In Literary Criticism: 4th place Adam Leyva

In Poetry Interpretation: 2nd place Victoria Simmons

In Prose: 2nd place Rachel Terzado

In Social Studies: 4th place Christopher Lacy.  The Social Studies Team of Mauricio Castillo, Chris Lacy, Jacob Lytle, and Joseph Perez placed 2nd.

In Spelling: Maddi Gaylor placed 4th and Bri McDonald placed 1st, and the team of Maddi Gaylor, Bri McDonald, and Matthew San Miguel placed 1st as a team and will all be competing in Regionals.

Bri McDonald showed her senior experience during the week and brought home 3 gold medals and one 4th place. Bri placed:

1st in Spelling

1st in Feature Writing

1st in Editorial Writing

and 4th in news writing.  She will be competing in 3 events at the Regional UIL Meet in April.

The Lytle Team had a lot to be proud of this year.  The Freshmen and Sophomore classes havefilled the UIL team back up, and 6 out of the 8 coaches are new to their events. A big thanks goes to Joe Alaniz, Joe Lytle, Jessica Barney, Greg Michalak, Kayla Speaker, Mitch Hale and Hannah Lara Mueller for all their work.
