Last weekend, your Pirate Powerlifters traveled to San Antonio Brooks Academy to compete in the annual Battle of the Beast against 300+ lifters. This meet was definitely a mental challenge for our lifters, due to time strains and technical difficulties on the platform. Impatience, frustration and exhaustion were heavily present in our kiddos. Despite all odds, we managed to walk away with three medals on the girls’ side.

1st place – Katelin Van Dong in the 198.5 weight class with a total of 1,040lbs

2nd place – Monique Covarrubias in the 114.5 weight class with a total of 600lbs

2nd place - Doralicia Patlan in the 97.5 weight class with a total of 540lbs

This past Saturday, we traveled to Poteet to compete in their annual meet. We lifted against schools from the area including Natalia, Pleasanton, Brooks Academy and Somerset. Coming out from an inconsistent practice week, we were extremely thrilled with the awards we managed to walk away with.

Once again, these kids have continued to impress me with their determination and drive to compete. I couldn’t ask for a better group of kids to work with. February 3rd we travel to Somerset as we continue our journey to Regionals. Hope to see some Lytle support out there!
