Lytle - 18
Dilley - 14

Yesterday afternoon, your Lytle Football JV Pirates took the field to face off against the Wolves of Dilley. With a few key players out this week, the players knew it was going to be a challenge in order to pull out a victory.

The tight knit group consisting of a majority of freshmen and a few sophomores, brought energy and enthusiasm from the opening kickoff to the final whistle of the game. Offensively, Drew Williams was able to hit 5 different receivers, in which 2 of the passes were brought in for touchdowns! Zack Placido hauled in a beautifully thrown ball from Williams down the sideline with one-hand, and took it all the way for the 1st score of the game. Cort Haltom scampered 60 yards up the gut for the 2nd TD of the game, following his linemen that opened up a huge hole for him to run thru. The 3rd and final TD came from Daniel Aguirre reeling in a throw from Williams in the corner of the endzone, which gave Lytle an 18-8 lead late in the 4th quarter.

Defensively, with Justin DeLeon leading the charge at middle linebacker, the Pirates defense caused multiple turnovers, along with huge defensive stops on 4th down, which shifted momentum back in Lytle's favor. Josh DelToro, Kasen Boyd, Cecil Olivarri, and Jonathan Villarreal played aggressively up front on the defensive side of the ball.

We are extremely proud of our boys effort! With only having 15 players, they're performing at such a high level, it's hard to explain. Congratulate these young men as they have improved their overall record to 3-1.

Next week, we have a triple-header here in Lytle with the 7th grade kicking things off at 5:00pm, followed by the 8th grade at 6:00pm, then the JV approx at 7:00pm.
They will all be facing the Cowboys from Cotulla.

Thank you for the continued support!
Go Pirates!
