Over the last several weeks the Lady Pirates have played hard. We lost in 3 sets to the Cotulla Cowgirls Sept 30th.

9-25, 13-25, 23-25

Oct 2nd, the Lady Pirates lost to the Lady Mustangs in 4 games.

19-25, 14-25, 25-22, 19-25

We had to make some adjustments due to 2 players being out for the season injured; 1 injured that night and 1 home sick.

The girls are having to learn to adjust very quickly to their new roles and unfortunately couldn’t pull off the win.

This past Tuesday the Varsity girls defeated the Dilley Wolves in 5 games.

25-13, 25-13, 17-25, 23-25, 16-14

The first two games the girls were on fire. Great serves and kills at the net gave us 2 quick sets. However, the next 2 games were not that easy.

The focus was not there, and errors took over. The fifth game did not start off the way we would have liked as Dilley jumped to a 7-4 lead. They had the lead most of the set with 10-6, 12-9, and then 14-13, then 14-14 and finally for the win at 16-14.

I have been on them about mental toughness and staying focused on their goals. They did completely that the last set. They proved that when they were down, they had the heart to come back for the win.
