Last night your boys traveled to Knippa, TX to play the Rockcrushers in a non-district game. From start to finish, the Pirate defense was on full display with a full court press on every possession. Our relentless defense led to 29 steals which lead to over 90 shots on our goal during the game. Through five games, the Pirates are getting comfortable playing a fast tempo style this year and its beginning to pay off. The Pirates ended up beating Knippa 97-66 to bring the team to a 5-0 start to the season. John Martinez led the Pirates with 21 points and 13 rebounds and is starting to come along as one of our leaders each game. Robert Ibarra has proven to be the glue of the team with his explosive speed and dynamic ball handling terrorizing every one of our opponents. Robert finished with 19 pts against Knippa. Seniors Jorge Holguin and Jociah Cruzzi have taken ownership of being the team captains and leaders while continuing to lead us offensively each game as they each pursue a 1000-point HS career total. Jorge finished with 21 points and Cruzzi finished with 17 points. Go Pirates!!!
Over the break, the boys beat Uvalde 78-43 and Poteet 72-59.
