Yesterday, October 3rd, our 8th Grade football team traveled to Wheatley Heights Sports Complex to play a very formidable Holy Cross team. The offense began the with a 7-minute drive led by Robert Guizar, Hector Anaya, Anthony Pedromo, Nathan Miller, Mario Diaz, Richard Hernandez, Elijah Martinez and Marcos Alvarado. The 12-play drive fizzled out on the 20-yard line. Holy Cross answered with a score on their first drive and led 7-0. In the 2nd quarter, Amadeus Trejo took the ball around the right side and scored on a 45-yard run, 7-7. Holy Cross scored twice more in the half and led 21-7. The 2nd half was a defensive struggle and the final was Holy Cross 28 Lytle 7. Defensive standouts were Rudy Cepeda, Rowdy Harvey, Jacob Guevara and Amadeus Trejo. The heart and determination our boys showed last night was inspiring. The Holy Cross coach made it a point to tell me that no other team had moved the ball against them as well as we did and that he was impressed at how our players conducted themselves on the field.

All were in good spirits when the sandwiches, Doritos, and apples were passed out. Gotta love Junior High Football. By the way, we have the best managers in South Texas (Riley Lathe, Leo Jimenez, Tori Perez). Shout out to ALL of the Junior High administration and staff for the jobs they are doing with these fine young men.
