Last night your Lady Pirates traveled 5 miles down the road to Natalia to kick off the regular season. It may have been the pre-game nerves and/or the inclusion of the 3 starters who not only missed 3 scrimmages, but played last night's game without a day of practice under their belt, miscommunication and costly mental mistakes seemed to be the difference as your Lady Pirates fell to the Natalia Lady Mustangs 10-1.
Highlights from the last night's game included our only run scored by a single from Precious Carrillo who drove in Mariah Amador from 2nd that gave Lytle the lead 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of 2nd inning.
Also, Shyane Barnhill battled the entire night in the circle as she came back from multiple 2-0 or 3-0 counts to turn those obstacles into opportunities for her and her teammates.
That's the only damage done that we were able to create throughout the rest of the evening.
Going to give credit to Coach Crowley and his staff from Natalia who have a great group of young ladies that have a bright future. We thank him for the opportunity to schedule this long time rivalry that hadn't been played in almost 4 years!
Your Lady Pirates will look to regroup and refocus with a quick turnaround heading into the rest of the week. They travel to Uvalde for a 3-day tournament kicking things off with an early Thursday morning game at 9:45am vs. Hondo.
Thank you, and we appreciate the continued support and positive feedback to start this 2018 season!
