This year at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo we had some students participate in the calf scramble. Two of our Lytle FFA students caught a calf this year. On the day he competed, Trevor Miller was the first one to come across the line with a calf. He is going to be raising a Heifer for the 2017 Atascosa County show as well as San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. During her contest, Chevy Landwehr was also able to get a calf across the line . She will also be raising an animal to show at the 2017 Atascosa County show as well as San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The students will have to keep a detailed record book and scrapbook on their animal for the duration of raising them. They will also be sending letters and updates to their sponsors on a regular basis so they can see all of the time and hard work they are putting into raising and caring for their animal. It’s a great life lesson and some real world experience in action.
They are going to have an exciting show year ahead of them! Way to go to these two!
