Last night, the Pirates played host to the Jourdanton Indians at Walter H. Joyce Jr. Field.
Malaki Castro scored the first touchdown of the game late in the 1st quarter behind nice blocking from Justin Evans, Deven Caldera, and Dustin Tumlinson. The point after failed.
In the 2nd quarter, the Pirate defense flexed its muscles. Joseph Araujo and Robert Wagner stripped the QB of the football and Deven Caldera scooped it up and took it 45 yards for the TD. Albert Aguilar ran in the 2-point conversion. Halftime score: 14 - 0.
On the opening drive of the 2nd Half, Collin Aldridge hooked up with Brandon Frias for a 35-yard pass. Two plays later, Aldridge scored on a QB keeper around the left side. Brandon Frias then booted his 2nd extra point of the season through the uprights.
Overall, it was a great team win. The defense played great, creating 4 turnovers: interceptions by Malakai Castro and Connor Martin and fumble recoveries by Collin Aldridge and Deven Caldera.
