11-13-2018 Varsity Football vs. Marion Bulldogs (Parents Night)

The Varsity football team ended their season last Friday with a loss to the Marion Bulldogs. The final score was 35-6. On the final play of the game, Victor Garcia ran the ball into the end zone for Lytle’s only touchdown.

While we did not make the playoffs, the team did improve from last year to this year (0-10 to 4-6). The main driver for improvement was the senior class. Players like Victor Garcia, Javier Garcia, Tristen Lowery, Johnny Paredes, Garrett Ralph, and Nakia Givens pushed the entire team out of their comfort zone during the off-season. Their efforts from the off-season to now are, and always will be, appreciated. They helped this program take a large step in the right direction culturally and competitively.

The underclassmen who accepted the challenge of the seniors and helped this team were players like Rylan Wagner, Roberson Harold, Kody Villarreal, Santiago Garcia, and Vincent Casanova. Some freshmen even moved up and contributed important minutes midway through the season (Zakry Placido, Bubba Solis, Daniel Aguirre, and Drew Williams).

Thank you to everyone that came out and supported the Lytle Football Team. Thank you to the cheerleaders, band, ROTC and FFA for making the game night (especially here at home) feel special. We are excited about the future of Lytle football and cannot wait until next season!
