The girls had a busy week before the break playing in the Cole Tournament. We played some good teams and got some great experience from all the games. We are getting better and finding the chemistry we will need once we start district play in January. That’s when it all counts. Our defense has improved tremendously, we are just struggling with our offensive game. These girls are putting in the work day in and day out. The record we have does not reflect the improvements we have made in the last 9 games. The determination they have makes me proud to be their Coach. The highlight of the tourney was when Kylie Mask was named All-Tourney. She reflects what this TEAM is focusing on and that’s DEFENSE.
Teams we played and some highlights:
Southside 47-28
Kiara Nixon brought in 11 points and we held them to only 3 points in the 4th quarter
Devine 48-20
Clarissa Ramos came off the bench and gave us 5 points
Cole 30-26
This was the best game we played, if we made a few free throws in the 4th we would have pulled the win. Our defense was the best I have seen.
Donna 50-20
Offensively we just could not buy a basket.
La Vernia 60-30
We played a lot better against them this 2nd time
We played Pleasanton over the Thanksgiving break and lost 50-25. We played a great first half and were only down by 8 heading into halftime. We missed 30 free throws in the second half, and we could not recover from that. If I can get them to play the way they did the 1st half of the game every game we will see success for district. Noelia Medina had 8 points.
