Students in my 8th grade College and Career Readiness class had the privilege to tour the San Antonio Police Training Academy. This group of students has shown an interest in careers in law enforcement and Public Safety, one of the Career Clusters that we study.
Students were treated to a real VIP experience and had an up close and personal look at what it takes to become a police officer. They were informed about the rigorous physical and academic training that all the cadets receive at the training academy.
Our students got to experience some of the training, visit the tactical village, driving track, look a the cool police interceptors, visit classrooms, and pay our respects at the police memorial. The department was even kind enough to fly in the police helicopter so our students could visit with them.
It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and great opportunity for our students to learn about careers in Law Enforcement.
I would like to thank Sgt. Michael Muniz and the entire command staff at the San Antonio Police Department for allowing our students to tour their facility and for being so welcoming.
Attached are some more pictures of our trip.
