5-3-2019 Varsity Baseball Wins Game 1 of Bi-District Series

Lytle 10, Taft 6

Pirate Baseball travelled to Sinton Thursday, May 2nd, for Game 1 of the Bi-District Series with the Taft Greyhounds. Lytle jumped out to an early 3 - 0 lead and never looked back. Jacob Esquibel threw 4 great innings and made one of the best catches I've seen all year. Esquibel tracked down a popup and made a wonderful sliding catch right in front of our dugout.

As the Greyhounds mounted a rally in the 5th inning, Logan Wilson relieved Alex Ramos and righted-the-ship. Wilson picked up the save with 3 great innings of relief.

Offensively, the Pirates were led by Joel Guerrero who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and scored 3 runs, Justin DeLeon who was 2 for 2 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, Logan Wilson who scored 3 runs. Javier Garcia, Adan Ayala, Sebastian Flores and Zakry Placido all had a hit in last night’s game.

Game 2 will take place at Somerset HS at 4:00 pm. (There are games before us at Somerset's field so be prepared for delays.)  Game 3, if needed, will take place 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2.

Overall Record:  15 - 13 - 1
