Part of the Lytle Cross Country Team (band competition) traveled to Round Rock on Saturday to compete in the McNeil Invitational, site of the UIL STATE XC MEET on Saturday September 28th. The course has changed, and it was good to have some of our new Varsity boys (Jared Aguinaga and Robert Wagner) have the opportunity to run the course they hope to return to in November.
We only had 3 girls competing in the 3A below division. Isyss Cortez was our top finisher coming in at 55 out of 182. Jackelyn Paredes (103) and Alize Sanchez (104) were the other 2 competitors.
For the boys, we combined 3 of our Varsity with 3 of our JV to still finish a respectable 8th out of 17. Gregorio Alcorta was our best finisher at 12th, Jared Aguinaga 23rd, Robert Wagner 53rd, Donovan Cortez 84th, Faustino Ruiz 89th, and Luciano Mireles 123rd out of 157 runners.
The team next travels to Devine on Wednesday, October 2nd, for their last meet before District. We FINALLY get our leader running again!!! As Senior Carlos Tamayo gets to run his first Meet of the year as he has been sitting due to an injury that happened before our first day of practice. It will be a big boost to our team to have him running at a Meet again since JC Hernandez is still nursing an injury for one more week. We hope to be at full strength by Regionals and hope to make a run at STATE again.
Thanks to all who went all that way to support these student-athletes.
