8-31-2020 Varsity Football vs. Poth

First, we would like to thank the administration for allowing us the opportunity to play Friday night, August 28th, and work strength and conditioning camp during the Summer. It is nice to have a Friday night football game after all we have been through, a little bit of normalcy. It was a different atmosphere, no band, no cheerleaders, 50% capacity of fans; we missed you guys. It changes a lot of the feel of the moment, it was definitely different.

The Pirates found ourselves facing adversity from the opening. We fumbled the opening kickoff and lost possession; two plays later gave up a score. However, we answered back. We started slow on offense, punted, and the first defensive play recovered a fumble. Two snaps later Carson Aldridge found a seam and scored a 37-yard touchdown run. At this point in the game we had the lead 7-6. Over the course of the 1st half, we wore down, we weren’t as conditioned and sharp. We will do a better job of getting our guys ready to go for 4 quarters. They are a talented team, and it showed throughout the game.
