One of these days we won’t make things hard on ourselves. I know, I say every week that I’m proud of our guys and proud about how they find a way to overcome adversity and self-inflicted turnovers and how our Pirates fight the entire game. This week down in Cotulla with no fans in the stands, no band, sometimes no noise period, you could barely hear our tailgaters way down the way, outside the fence. It truly was an interesting atmosphere for a Friday night game, October 16. We started out with a 10 – 0 lead going into halftime thanks to a 35-yard field goal by Daniel Aguirre, and a touchdown pass from Carson Aldridge to Logan Wilson. Good start, not great, but we have the lead at the break. Murphy’s law in the second half. We fumbled three times and found ourselves down 11 with 9 minutes remaining in the game. Then the good guys started taking back the game. Mark Cantu found a hole and ran one in from 61 yds out; Daniel Aguirre ran one in from 15 yards out and finally Vince Cassanova from 30 yards out. ALL IN THE LAST 9 MINUTES. The game came down to a two-point conversion yet again, since we let Cotulla score, they had to convert to tie the game. It was denied by an outstanding defensive play, hustle, and effort.

It was a great TEAM victory, no individual player has eye popping stats, the Pirates play for one another, play as a single unit on both sides of the ball and never has it showed more than last Friday night. That is what we are proud of the most, at any given time, any of our guys can and will make a play when we need it the most.
We have started the crazy portion of our schedule. The Pirates will play 2 Varsity games in the next 8 Days. As always thank you for your support. GO PIRATES!!!!!
