The girls traveled to Uvalde Halloween morning with only 18 suited up. The JV, coached by Coach Mason this year, showed some good things. I think this group once they get some more practice under their belt will be a good group. We are waiting on two more girls to add which will bring some depth to the team.
The Varsity took to the floor with 9 girls, missing only one. We will have FIVE Seniors, ONE Junior, TWO Sophomores and TWO Fish. This group is going to be fun to watch we have the speed this year with four guards that can press the whole game as long as we stay out of foul trouble. We are fortunate to have a transfer, Cameron Hutton, to add to the mix. We have Five bigs that can be factors protecting the basket. I have not had a true point guard since Natalie Cortez graduated and now, I have been blessed with Calyssa Sevier running the floor and making amazing passes to her teammates. The best thing about these young ladies is they all are great student/athletes and are unselfish and play as a TEAM.
Noelia Medina will be the Captain leading the offense and Kylie Mask will be leading the defense for us. Kylie Mask picked up her first charge of the season on Saturday. Go Pirates!!!
