11-20-2020 Giving thanks for Lytle VFW Post 12041 for their support of Lytle Schools.

Please watch this short video and join our district in thanking the Lytle VFW Post 12041 for their amazing gifts of time, donations, and support. Commander Larry Sanders is copied on this email, so if you would like to reply or send a personal message of thanks for all our VFW does for our students, please feel free to do so.

Mr. Larry Sanders is the Commander at Lytle Memorial VFW Post 12041 who has been recognized with 6 Consecutive All-American and All-State Post Commander honors. This patriotic man is a loyal supporter of Lytle ISD and it's schools. Last year, he went out into our community to speak about the importance of a 2019 Bond Project which successfully passed thanks to his active involvement. He is always willing to come into our schools to speak to students about military career readiness and patriotism. At the Elementary, the VFW has donated funds to help our nurse and counselor with the purchase of personal hygiene products, clothes and underclothes for students in need. They also donated a large number of backpacks loaded with supplies for our students. Lytle VFW has always made big contributions to our Pirate Track and Field Day, providing funds for tshirts and medals, and running the concession stand with VFW volunteers. This event includes students in Special Education Programs from 5 area schools. Every year, Lytle graduating seniors benefit from local VFW-funded scholarships. In addition, Commander Sanders hosts an end-of-year appreciation dinner for the Lytle Leadership team where he honors 4 campus teachers with the VFW Teacher of the Year award. The VFW, under his leadership, yearly provides lunch for teachers during the Junior High Annual History Day and they also provide a meal and help with serving lunch during Junior High Teacher Appreciation week. After students collected canned goods last November, the VFW collected the cans and distributed them to a local food bank. The VFW also provided Thanksgiving meals for several families in Lytle ISD for Thanksgiving.
