12-16-2020 Girls' Varsity Beat Poth

What a game last night, December 15th, the Lady Pirates beat Poth in an exciting game in front of a big crowd. Nerves were apparent for the girls as well as the coaches we knew this was a big game to set the tone for the District race. The 2nd quarter we outscored Poth 20-12 that took us into the half up 30-19. We knew we needed to come out in the 3rd quarter and set the tone and we struggled with our guards getting into foul trouble which made us have to adjust to a half-court defense. When the 3rd quarter ended it was 40-27. We went back with the starters and Kylie Mask fouled out early in the 4th and Fizz Hutton had 4 fouls. Clarissa Ramos came off the bench and helped fill that spot. We pulled off the win with everyone getting into the game and contributing big. We have played some big schools in the pre-season and it has defiantly payed off for the girls. Leading the team was Noelia Medina with a season high of 20 points and she hit 2 big 3-pointers. Calyssa Sevier had 18 points, 10 assists, and 6 steals. Martinez and Ramos both had 6 points. Hutton and Mask both had 3 points. Whitfield had 1 point. We are now 8-5 for the season and 1-0 in District. Go Pirates!!!

Pirates 57 – Poth 40

Special thanks to the drumline and the boys’ basketball team and coaching staff for cheering us on. Thanks to Clark and the rest of the coaching staff along with the maintenance crew that helped run things smoothly with the COVID-19 guidelines with the boys playing after us. It was defiantly a great night. I did not know if the scoreboard would record after 100 points but the boys let me find out last night great win boys!!!

Happy holidays from the Basketball Team we will be playing during the holidays and representing Lytle with PRIDE!!! Stay safe and mask up!!
