Just as with the High School Band, Junior High band students competed in virtual All-Region Band auditions. I’m so excited to say that our students represented Lytle very well. When students compete, those that make the band are placed into one of two bands, Symphonic and Concert. Symphonic is the top band with the top students from our Region. Concert band is the second band. Even though we are unable to have a clinic and concert this year, the following students have bragging rights for the next year and will still receive their All-Region Band patch.
Micaela Heath
2nd chair flute, Symphonic Band
Valentina Ayala
3rd chair flute, Symphonic Band
Kayzen Lassere
2nd chair flute, Concert Band
Shea Merrell
10th chair flute, Concert Band
Emily Garcia
4th chair clarinet, Concert Band
Richard Tollett
4th chair trumpet, Symphonic Band
Jenna Rodriguez
13th chair trumpet, Concert Band
All-Region Band is one of the activities we do in band where students are responsible for the bulk of their practice. We offer assistance, but students are responsible for showing up. Most of the students you see above were not only practicing during class, but showing up after school to practice with me. There were even a couple of girls that were remote for the two weeks leading up to the auditions who joined us in Collaborates and Zoom meetings to practice with Mr. Fender and myself.
I really need to thank Mr. Fender for working with these students during school and especially for working with our trumpet players. We did have a few percussionists that tried out but they came up a little short this year. Thank you, Mr. Keown for working with them.
If you see these students please congratulate them!
