Yesterday, March 25th, the Lytle Throwers finished their Meets before heading to District. We had a small Meet with Pearsall and Somerset. We knew everyone would get a measurement and go into the District Meet knowing what they could accomplish. The boys began in the discus ring and the girls began in the shot put ring. As the throwing coach I got to run the Varsity girls’ rings and The Wagner's ran the boys’ rings so they could watch their grandson, Cort Haltom, throw. Coach Mason, Coach Scotello and Coach Walthall did a great job running the Junior Varsity rings. The results are as follows:

Noelia Medina - 31'3" - 2nd

For me, one of the highlights was watching Alex Medina, on his last throw, move to 2nd place and set a new personal record. Each Meet he has increased his throw. This Meet was bittersweet for me. Alex Naeglin and Noelia Medina ended their 7th Grade discus season in Lytle back in 2016 with Alex beating Noelia. Tuesday, March30th, they will throw discus at the District meet for the final time. Records are not important next Tuesday. Points collected during this season don't matter. All that will matter is will these two ladies throw better than everyone else on that day. One Day, one Meet, one Throw.
"Inspire or motivate your players with praise. Ten years from now, it won't matter what your record was. What will matter is if your kids love or hate you."
