"Achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success."
- Helen Hayes
The Junior High completed their track season Friday night, March 26th, in Jourdanton. It was exciting to see seven teams competing for achievements. The throwing team each supported the entire team by providing points to help the team. The ladies' successes were not as great as the lads but they all improved over the season. Each competition had at least 20 throwers and all the throwers were in the top 10 of the groups even though only a few ladies placed. [Did not place (DNP)]

Noah Merrell ran a 9:54 in the 2400 M run to place 2nd and then came to the shot put ring and threw 24'7". He then went and placed 4th in Discus. It has been my honor to return the favor to Coach Chandler for coaching my son, BJ. Noah is Coach Chandler's grandson.
The 8th Grade boys went in with the best chance of winning District titles. A Lytle 8th Grade boy has held the District Discus title since 2018. Juan Olvera continued the string.

It has been a fun but short season in the rings broken up by Snow and Spring Break. The future is hopeful for these throwers.
Although it is running and not throwing, I would like to highlight a couple of Cross Country girls which I got to work with this track season. Klayre Cook was bested at the first Meet in Poth in the 800M by a girl from Poth and one from Karnes City. They ran a 2:43 and Klayre ran a 2:46. On Friday Klayre ran a 2:40 and won the 800M. She also placed 2nd in the mile. Annika Robles and Shea Merrell both placed third in the 2400M run with times of 12:27 and 14:39. I am so proud to highlight these achievements.
