April 21st, the team of Khye Stewart (95), Bryson Duty (96), Hudson Mask (98), and Connor Redding (102) finished in 9th place out of 16 Regional teams. So proud of their golf day but just as proud of the way they conduct themselves off the course. Got a lot of compliments. Round 2 today.
The golf season ended yesterday, April 22nd, in Kerrville at the 3A Regional Tournament. The team goal of qualifying for the Regional Tournament was accomplished. What was unexpected was our performance at this prestigious event. There are plenty of good golfers in Region IV. Our Lytle golfers held their own. This summary won’t do justice to the elements that our golfers had to endure. Wednesday morning our boys teed off in 35-degree wind chill weather. On Thursday, the temperature didn’t get above 50 and the round was played in a constant mist. All you golfers out there can appreciate how difficult it is to play in those conditions. Be that as it may, our golf team of four finished in 8th place out of 16 Regional qualifying teams and of 91 participants in the field, this is how we fared:
Bryson Duty - 96, 89 - T-33
Connor Redding - 102, 88 - T-40
Khye Stewart - 95, 100 - T-45
Hudson Mask - 98, 102 - T-46
I am so excited for next year. All of our golfers are returning and are planning on how to get better. They have “the bug”. Looking forward to winning a District championship in boys’ AND girls’ golf in the near future.
Thank you to all the administrators, teachers, staff, and PARENTS for their support all year. Special thanks to Ms. Smith, Coaches Wilson, McConathy and Trevino and last but certainly not least, Ms. Tapia.
