This past Friday and Saturday, the Lytle High School RoboPirates teams competed in the Alamo Region Championship in Austin. The teams went through interviews with a panel of judges, connected with other teams and industry professionals, and competed on the field against the top 80 teams from all across central and south Texas.
Both teams made significant improvements to their robots since the previous competition and started off the tournament with a win in their opening match! Unfortunately, we could not repeat that success going 1-4 for the tournament. While we did not qualify for Super Regionals, we anxiously wait to find out if we will receive an invitation to the state tournament later this spring.
I am incredibly proud of the growth of these competitors throughout the season and the determination shown by these teams. We learn something new each time we have the opportunity to compete against the powerhouse robotics programs at this level and we will now begin planning the work that will bring us back to this point and beyond next season.
Thanks for all of your support and encouragement of these students!
