9-19-2021 Lytle Cross Country at Islander Splash
It was a hot, humid day on Saturday, September 18, 2021 as the Lytle Pirate Cross Country team traveled down to Corpus for the Islander Splash. It was a chance to run at the regional course that we hope to get back to on October 25th.

The girls started our day when they lined up in the Med/Small Girls 2 Mile Division with 40 other teams and 334 runners. It is the biggest meet they will run in all year.  We didn't have a particularly great meet, but it was good enough to finish 4th out of 40 schools. Again, Eisabel Guerrero led the girls with her individual 5th place finish. The team defeated all the 3A schools present and lost to three 4A schools including the #6(La Feria) and #5(Bandera) teams in 4A.

The boys also participated in the Med/Small Boys 5K Division with 34 schools and 304 runnersThey continue to battle through all their injuries and in the meantime, it has given others an opportunity to gain some valuable experience. The boys finished 6th out of 34 teams losing to only one 3A school in Brownsville IDEA Frontier. Three of the 5 scoring for the Lytle boys were freshman in Johnny Rey Alvarez, Luke Estrada, and Yandel Esquivez.

Attached are the Lytle individual/team results along with the CCCAT coaches' poll.
