Lytle 48 – Randolph 13
The 7th grade football team defeated Randolph Ro-Hawks yesterday, October 7, 2021, with Merrick “Mighty Mouse” Null scoring his first touchdown along with Weston "Wild Man" Jackson adding 2 and Sebastian "Sea-bass" Mirales adding 1.
But this is about a young man who exemplifies everything we look for in today’s youth!
Jayden "Mad Dog" Motes scored two touchdowns yesterday, but that has nothing to do with the photo. The photo above is the award given to the NFL’s Man of the Year Recipient for everything he does on and especially off the field! Jayden is a straight A student who is constantly looking to improve his academic standing. Jayden always ask teachers and coaches what he can do to help, I have received numerous notes on his excellent behavior in class and how he helps other students. Everything said about him was summed up in one play yesterday.
A Randolph kid broke free for an 80-yard Touchdown run only to realize a Lytle Pirate never quit playing and he found himself tracked down from behind and tackled on the Pirates 3-yard line and a game changing Touchdown was prevented. Most people say oh well, they’ll score next play, but because of the intense hustle and determination to never give up, it was Jayden Motes that stopped him and on the very next play caused them to fumble where the Pirates recovered the ball on the 1-yard line and went on a 99-yard Touchdown drive! As a coach, I live for these moments in kids and as a parent, I live to see these moments. Jayden, thanks for making it easy to wake up every day and come to a job and not work.
If you see this young man, please tell him excellent job, not for the touchdowns, but for showing what a true Pirate is all about in all areas!
The 7th Grade Pirates are 5-0 and looking to continue this run. Thanks to everyone for your support and have a blessed weekend!
