The 8th Grade football team went to Cotulla last night, November 4, 2021, to avenge their only loss of the season. The spirited team did just that. From beginning to end, the Pirates executed on both sides of the ball and on special teams. All 25 contributed, some outside of their usual positions. Jaden Araujo, Alex Rios, Cesar Martinez, Angel Ibarra, Noah Mercer, Chris Garza and Jeffery Vargas have waited patiently for their number to be called and last night…it was. They all did an admirable job in helping us secure the District Championship and finishing with a 7-1 record. (8 seconds from an undefeated season…whew, typing that still hurts). What these young men accomplished is incredible. I hope the experience of Junior High football will be something they can build on to become better football players, students, and young adults in the future. Not in that order. There are definitely a lot of characters in this squad. It was a great experience working, day in and day out, with this group. Thanks to all the teachers, administrators, and staff for your role in this successful season. Personally, thanks to Coach Clark for staying on top of their grades and behavior. Last but not least, to parents for trusting us to work with, laugh with, discipline and help guide their children for 3 months. It’s a great day to be a Pirate!
