1-7-2022 7th and 8th Grade Hoops

“When by body gets tired, my mind says, ‘This is where winners are made.’ When my mind gets tired, my heart says, ‘This is where champions are made.’”

-Glory Road

Yesterday, January 6, 2022, the Junior High Boys traveled a few miles down to take on the Blue Team of Natalia. It lived up to the hype!

The 7th Grade boys’ B Team came out strong and played a well-executed game defeating the Blue Team 14-0. PJ Guillen led all scorers with 8 points giving Lytle the win 14-0. Strong defense by Kash Friesenhahn and Merrick Null helped them put up a Goose Egg on the Blue Team.

The 8th Grade B Team wasn't as lucky. Being out sized and out hustled, the boys dropped a close one to the Blue Team 9-5.

When our A teams stepped on the court it was GO TIME!

The 7th Grade boys’ A Team came out with this rivalry in mind and didn't disappoint. Seth "Superman" Pierce put up 20, leading the way while Ethan "Electrifying" Elizondo, Mason "Mad Dog" Hill, and Weston "I Finally Made a Layup" Jackson played amazing defense to defeat the Blue Team 39-18.

The 8th Grade boys’ A Team most definitely had their hands full with a very athletic and aggressive Blue Team. On a night when nothing seemed to fall for the boys, their defense was relentless and inspiring! Led by Chase's 16 points and Toby's stellar defense, these boys won a nail biter game 28-25 to give be the Blue Team their first loss of the season.

As Meatloaf said, "2 out 3 ain't bad." However, I'll take Lytle's 3 out of 4 any day!

Thanks to the Cafeteria Ladies for always taking care of us and Coach Scotello as well.
