This past week, the Lytle Junior Varsity and Varsity tennis teams traveled to San Antonio to take part in the Burbank High School Dog Fight in the River City tennis tournament. What a great opening to the season for both our teams.
On Thursday, January 27, 2022, the Junior Varsity were led by Freshman Nathaniel Armendariz, who earned a few victories before losing in the semifinals to a tough Randolph High School opponent. Our boys' doubles team did a fantastic job of advancing a couple of matches before losing in the quarterfinals. The team consisted of Yandel Esquivez and David Matthew De La Fuente. On the girls' side, we are excited about the future as we had outstanding performances by the doubles team of Joanna Plaza and Celeste Ramirez and, in the singles division, Lola Patino.
On Friday, January 28, 2022, the Varsity girls had a great showing, lots of improvement has been made. The girls are led by Michelle Davis and Cambri Davila.
On the boys' side, the standouts were the doubles team of Michael Tomlinson and Elias Moore, who advanced to the consolation semifinals match. This was their first time as a team and they did an excellent job working together. The singles division was led by Diego Rangel and Zachary Bradshaw, who played one another in the 3rd place match of the tournament, with Bradshaw coming on top.
