2-23-2022Girls Basketball Win Regional Quarterfinals! We are in the Sweet 16! First Girls Team to make it to Regional Tourney!

First, we want to thank everyone for all the support and love while leaving Lytle yesterday, February 22, 2022, for the game and when we returned home last night. Our Mayor, Mr. Gonzales is the best. He had Ada arrange it for us to get escorted back into Lytle and then to see all the fans at Whataburger was awesome! The Legacy gym was packed with Lytle fans screaming and cheering the girls on! It helped us take the lead late in the 4th with about 2:30 left. We had trailed the whole second half, then our defense kicked in with three quick steals from our press for layups. Fizz Hutton hit a big three, Cadee Martinez made an off-balance shot and Calyssa Sevier with a big 3 to seal the deal and defeat Karnes City 68-65. This was another wonderful team win for the Program and the Lytle Community!

This team is the first Girls Basketball Team to make it to the Regional Tournament. The Team that Cheyenne Berry played lost at AREA so the girls have made some more History and we are not done yet!

I do not have all the stats back from the Hudl assist but here is the scoring:

Calyssa Sevier, with another big game with 32 points, scored a total of 91 points in the three playoff games.

Fizz Hutton had another great game with 18 points and I know she had at least 10 steals again. That would be over 20 steals in the last three games.

Cadee Martinez had a quiet 7 but scored late in the 4th with a clutch shot that we needed.

Amelia Martinez played great defense and scored 6 points hitting a great shot to get the momentum going our way.

Sofia Hutton came off the bench and had 4 points and grabbed some good rebounds.

Katara Whitfield scored 1 point and grabbed some good rebounds for us.

Nicole Godines did not score but she played great defense for us all night.

Arianna Garcia did not score but gave us some great minutes of defense.

Rose Scotello, Kaylee Diaz and Lunna Reyes had great energy from the bench keeping their team focused.

Thank you to the cheerleaders and sponsors for their support. Thanks, Katelyn Banks, for the escort along with LYTLE PD!

Thank you to all the parents, staff, coaches and ADMIN that made the short drive!

Our lucky charm, Cowboy, was so happy to get a goodie bag with a Harley Davison shirt! Our parents are the best for doing that and decorating the bus!! How appropriate, since it is Bus Driver Appreciation Week! THANK YOU To All of our Awesome Drivers!

If you see the girls, please congratulate them, they are representing Lytle with Pride!
