Today, March 1, 2022, the Junior High band traveled to Hondo to compete in our UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation. This is the first time since 2019 that our students traveled to perform their UIL concert music. Last year we performed in our auditorium. I am so excited to tell you the kids earned a 1st Division in both concert and sight-reading. In fact, they earned a 1st Division from all 6 judges. This is the highest possible rating a band can receive. Because of this, the band came away with a sweepstakes trophy. I am extremely proud of these young musicians who have overcome many obstacles this semester.
I want to give a shout-out to Josh Chessher and Javier Lopez who have been helping our students daily in class. I couldn't ask for a better team.
