In the game of baseball, there are things you try to avoid that we call "freebies". On defense, "freebies" are errors, walks, and stolen bases. On offense, these are strikeouts. Last night, we gave La Vernia too many "freebies". They outplayed us in these categories and the score is the result.
We learned quite a bit about ourselves from this game. Our schedule is a tough one this year. We set it up that way in order to raise our expectations of what it means to be "a good team". Last night, we found out what happens when you give "a good team" extra chances throughout the entire game.
