3-23-2022 UIL Academics Meet

UIL Academic Events took place today, March 23, 2022. Several events took place throughout the day. Events include Business Skills, Essay contests, Journalism, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Speech & Debate. Lytle did not take part in all events; however, Lytle did send teams to compete in Spelling, Science, Social Studies, Math, and Ready Writing. The teams for Spelling and Science did not place but gained valuable experience.

UIL Ready Writing

1st Kaitlyn Ramirez

2nd Miguel-Angel Lopez

3rd Samantha Mujica

The amount of time these students have put into practicing for this event has been astounding. Each of them is involved in so many extracurricular events that pushed us to be highly creative with practice times and activities. Their dedication has made me unbelievably proud. Please congratulate them when you see them!

UIL Math and Number Sense

The Lytle High School Math and Number Sense teams left their mark in Poth at the District UIL Academic Meet. They went in as an inexperienced team needing to find our footing. I am glad to report the students went above and beyond the high mark set last year.

Mason Davila took 1st place in Number Sense. With the team coming in 2nd. The number sense team grew exponentially since the start of the year. I want to give a huge shoutout to newcomer Robert Wagner who had an impressive showing in his first District Meet.

On the Math Side…. We improved both individually and as a team. Mason Davila earned 3rd and the team placed 2nd. We came into the Meet facing a lot of adversity. I decided to pull in Miguel Lopez from my Calculus class to give us some much-needed veteran math experience.

All in all, I couldn’t be prouder of the way my teams performed. It is now on to Regionals for Mason in April. Can’t wait to see how far he will go this year. Stay tuned.

Please be sure to congratulate these gentlemen on their performance.

UIL Social Studies

The High School Social Studies Team did an outstanding job, placing 2nd. Samantha Mujica took 1st place honors and Robert Wagner took 3rd place. Both will be advancing to the Regional competition in April. Samantha, Robert, and Nivea Sanchez are all first-time competitors in this event and I am expecting more success from them in the coming years. The entire academic team represented Lytle with pride today. I would also like to thank all our unsung heroes-the coaches. Richy Gutierrez, Hannelore Mueller, Alberto Salazar, Bri McDonald and Ruben Gonzalez all worked hard behind the scenes today managing events, grading tests, and helping our students prepare for their competition. It was a great day!
