Congratulations to our Pirate Football Coaching Staff and Players for defeating the West Campus Cougars 42-0, last Friday, September 9, 2022, here in Lytle. Our program continues to strengthen and grow because of the commitment, efforts and hard work of our coaches, players and athletic trainers, coupled with the support of our administration, faculty, staff, student body and community. It was a good win for our program and our kids worked extremely hard to earn their first victory of the season. Our team had the best offensive performance of the season, played another tenacious game on defense and performed very well on special teams.
Offensive standouts include Freshman Quarterback Toby Davila (7/12 Passing for 91 Yards - 2 touchdowns; 11 Rushes for 91 Yards - 2 touchdowns), Senior Wide Receiver Connor Martin (4 Receptions for 76 Yards - 2 Touchdowns), Sophomore Running Back Hudson Lindsay (4 Rushes for 33 yards), Senior Running Back Roland Cordova (1 carry for 5 yards, 1 touchdown) and Senior Wide Receiver Hudson Mask (2 Receptions for 8 Yards; 1 Rush for 18 Yards). We must mention the stellar play of our offensive linemen, who include Senior Center Damien Myers, Junior Guard Jacob Guevara, Junior Tackle Hector Anaya, Sophomore Guard William Davalos and Sophomore Tackle Damien Ramon.
Defensive Standouts include Senior Inside Linebacker Roland Cordova (7 Solo Tackles, 1 Assist, 5 Tackle for Loss, 2 Quarterback Sacks, 1 Quarterback Hurry), Senior Defensive Back Albert Aguilar (3 Solo Tackles, 2 Assists, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Pass Breakup), Sophomore Defensive Back Luke Estrada (2 Solo Tackles, 1 Pass Breakup, 1 Int. for a Touchdown), Junior Outside Linebacker Amadeus Trejo-Perez (2 Solo Tackles, 2 Assists, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Pass Breakup), Junior Inside Linebacker Anthony Perdomo (2 Solo Tackles, 1 Assists, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Quarterback Sack, 1 Fumble Recovery) and Junior Defensive Tackle Jake Guevara (2 Solo Tackles, 1 Assist, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Quarterback Hurry). Special Teams standouts include Sophomore Linebacker/Specialist Carlos Gonzalez and Junior Kicker/Punter Marcos Alvarado (4/5 PATs).
