We have a marker board for our weekly motivational prompts. The board is titled, "Make Moments Matter". Each week, students have two prompts or questions they may choose from to respond to on the board or if they have witnessed a fellow plumbing student behaving in an exceptional way; they may submit an entry into the "exceptional moment/act drawing" by writing a detailed explanation about who it was, what happened, and what made this act so exceptional. Entries go into a locked box which I pass to another teacher to unlock and choose the winner from at the end of the 9 weeks.
One entry is chosen where the writer and the subject each win a starter tool set in a tool bag.
The purpose of this is to focus on positivity and encourage students to be present. This is the first 9 weeks and I feel it was a huge success!
