10-21-2022 7th Grade Football vs Cotulla

This week, Coach Jopling and I issued the boys a challenge, which was to go out and simply execute their job for all four quarters. That was simply what we, as a team, seemed to be lacking these past few weeks; the ability to play at our level of talent for all four quarters. We felt the scoreboard would handle itself if they stepped up to that challenge. Last night, the boys stepped up and answered the bell in the biggest of ways!

Yesterday, October 20, 2022, the Pirates finally returned home after back-to-back away games to face off against the Cotulla Cowboys! The game started off fast with explosive runs by Angel Delarosa and our big offensive line! The scheme was simple: dominate up front, block downfield, and run hard! Offensively, they executed nearly a flawless game plan all game long. Except for some costly penalties here and there, the boys moved and scored seemingly at will! This ground attack was led by none other than AJ Cantu and Angel Delarosa! Our “Ariel” assault even made an appearance, as Jayson Fuentes had some nifty down-field catches. Delarosa would cap the drives off with much needed touchdowns to help seal their victory! On the other side of the ball, the fast, flying, and furious Pirate defense were playing just as described! From the start, it was nothing but tackles for lost yards, sacks in the backfield, and causing multiple turnovers! The Pirates would go on to force their 2nd shutout of the season! Every snap there was a rush of 11 gold jerseys to the ball waiting to put a stop to the Cotulla offense!

If you see these gentlemen, please congratulate them on a job well done. To the parents, teachers, faculty, that continue to support us throughout our season; we thank you! Our boys appreciate the love and support!

Go Pirates!
