Last Friday, October 21, 2022, the Pirate football team took on the Cotulla Cowboys in Game 3 of District play. It was a close, physical game between the Pirates and Cowboys. To say that our team played hard is an understatement. In a game with playoff implications, on the road, this team refused to give up and gave a great effort against a 5-2 Cotulla team. Despite losing 3 starters to injury early on, the team pushed forward. The defense played great. The offense and special teams did their best to take advantage of their opportunities.
Final Score: 0-6.
Over the past 20 months, this program has grown. The team has shown that what we do on a daily basis – work hard, build relationships, focus on the positive, develop a growth mindset – means something to us. They understand that success is a process where a storm can precede a calm, and it has. For a young team, they have navigated the storm well, knowing that good things always come to those who work hard, believe, and stay on course. This team will continue to stand tall, chin up-chest out, and proudly wear the Black and Gold. Humble in Victory, Hungry in Defeat. Offensive standouts include Freshman Quarterback Toby Davila, Senior Connor Martin, Junior Amadeus Trejo-Perez, and a young, but hungry offensive line who continues to improve every week. They are Freshman Devin Cordova, Sophomores William Davalos and Damien Ramon, Junior Hector Anaya and Senior Damien Myers. Defensive/Special Teams Standouts include Sophomores Carlos Gonzalez and Luke Estrada, Juniors Mario Diaz, Jacob Guevara, Anthony Perdomo, Marcos Alvarado and Andrew Gonzales and Seniors Albert Aguilar and Roland Cordova.
