The Junior High Lady Pirates have been having a great season this year! They have been working hard in practice and coming up with wins. We are so proud of their hard work and their dedication to this season.
11/17/2022 vs. Cotulla
7B – Our 7th Grade B-Team started the girls off that night. They have so much fun on the court that you can’t help but enjoy yourself. The night started off a bit slow and the girls struggled in the 1st half to make any baskets, and we ended the 1st half down 0 – 5. When the girls came out for the 2nd half, they were excited and ready to play and that is when the baskets started falling. The girls were pressing after each basket made and created turnovers, and by the end of the game the girls came up with the win, 16 – 5.
7A – The 7th Grade A-Team was next and following the B team girls who won helped them start excited and ready to go. The girls came out and got started right away on setting the tone. The girls pressed after every made basket and forced multiple turnovers as a result. The girls had a slow second quarter but came out again after half-time ready to play again. The girls continued to push and by the end of the game were in control and had taken a strong lead. They ended their night with a win too, 25-6.
8A – The 8th Grade girls were the end of our evening and we were all hoping that they would pull off a win too. The girls came out and did not disappoint, they pressed and created multiple turnovers. Aliana Cardenas was a driving force for them this evening and helped the girls pull out to a great lead. They continued to press and the pressure they put on Cotulla helped them to hold them scoreless in the 3rd quarter. The girls ended the evening with another great win, 41-13.
12/1/2022 vs. Dilley
That Thursday afternoon, only the 7th and 8th Grade A-teams travelled to Dilley as Dilley did not have B-teams.
7A – The girls were excited to get started and really wanted to remain undefeated after that evening. They got out to a slow start and at the end of the 1st they were down 5-8. They pulled out strong in the 2nd and 3rd and held them from scoring while we were able to put up 10 points. They were an aggressive group of girls and the girls adjusted well. At the end of the night, the girls remained undefeated and beat Dilley 23-10.
8A – It’s always fun watching the kids play basketball when they enjoy what they are doing, and the 8th Grade girls are no exception. They were excited about following the A-team and wanted to leave the evening with a win.
