This past week, Thursday through Saturday, December 8-10, 2022, the Pirates competed in the Comfort ISD Tournament. The Pirates went 4-1 overall and won the third-place game vs Boerne Geneva. The Pirates beat Poteet 87-53, Blanco 68-40, Fredericksburg 51-49, and Boerne Geneva 75-53. The only loss came in the Semi-finals to eventual tournament champion St. Augustine Laredo 61-44. Senior Jordan Balderaz led the team offensively with an average of 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. He was awarded an all-tournament team. Senior Jaelen Guevara was having the tournament of his life, averaging 15 points, 3 steals, and 5 rebounds a game before dislocating his elbow against Boerne Geneva. It was a tragic event, but Jaelen is a tough kid and started rehab yesterday, December 12. He is determined to get back on the court as soon as possible. Due to his resilience, his injury may be anywhere from 2-6 weeks long. So please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery. Go Pirates!
