Just before Thanksgiving break, our High School Admin team of Mrs. Libby Stewart, Mrs. Rebecca Glover, Mr. Reynaldo Sanchez, Jennifer Criswell and Marivel Quionez organized a College and Career Fair for all of our High School students to attend. Many colleges, universities, workforce organizations, military recruiters and local businesses were invited to come meet face to face with our students. Presenters included Baptist University of the Americas, H-E-B Grocery, OCI Solar Power & Mission Solar Energy, Our Lady of the Lake University, Palo Alto College - Career and Technical Education, Palo Alto College - Horticultural Sciences, Palo Alto College: Dual Credit, Palo Alto College: Histology Technician Program, US Marine Corps Recruiter Sgt. Dollen, St. Philip's College Vision Care Technology, St. Philip’s College: Allied Trades, St. Philip's College, St. Philip's College SWC Diesel Technology Program, St. Philip's College SWC Plumbing, St. Philip's Diesel Program, St. Phillip's College - SWC, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Texas Army National Guard, University of the Incarnate Word and Workforce Solutions Alamo.
Event organizers were very confident that most of our 480 students grades 9-12 attended throughout the day. Senior Elijah Stech says, "It turned out to be a valuable experience for me and several others in my dual credit Sociology class. We got to meet our professor for the first time, and she is really nice! We were a little behind in some areas, and she worked with us in the days after the fair to help us get caught up.
Thank you to all who made this day a huge success. It was an exciting opportunity for students to make connections and research their future college, career and military opportunities!
