The girls took to the court Tuesday night, January 24, 2023, in front of a packed gym to take on our Rival Natalia and beat them 78-16, claiming the trophy for the 7th year in a row! The girls' defense held Natalia scoreless until the second quarter. Our press was just too much for the Mustangs at the half. We were up 46-4. At the half, we told the girls not to look at the scoreboard. We have to mentally prepare ourselves if we want to make a run in the playoffs. We told them to keep playing, not to get lazy and to take care of business. It is not running the score up, it is just keeping these girls mentally focused on achieving the goals we have set for ourselves. Everyone got into the game and got some great minutes. We scored 46 points on Natalia turnovers and had 36 steals. We scored 32 points in transition, which is one of our greatest assets, pushing the ball down the floor. We held Natalia to 16 points. That says a lot about our defense. The girls are now 6-0 in District and 20-10 for the Season. We are ranked #9 for TXHSSGB and #23 for TABC! Getting win #20 last night was super special with the preseason we played this year. I am so proud of the girls. We will travel to Cotulla on Friday, January 27. Go Pirates!
