1-30-2023 Varsity Girls Basketball Defeat Cotulla in Hard Won Battle

On January 27, 2023, the girls traveled down to Cotulla and won 80-65. It was a battle until the end. The girls are now 7-0 in District and 21-10 for the Season. We are ranked #21 in Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and #9 for Texas High School Girls Basketball (TXHSGBB) and #5 for VYPESATX. The girls have been working really hard and only have 3 District games left before the playoffs. I am so proud of the girls and how they handled themselves on Friday night. Thanks to everyone that made the drive to support the team. We had 19 steals and scored 26 points in transition in the win. 

Stats for the game 

    • Calyssa Sevier scored 25 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 6 deflections and 6 steals.
    • Fizz Hutton contributed 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 deflections and 7 steals. She had a season high game.
    • Cadee Martinez had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
    • Katara Whitfield had a double-double 14 points, 11 points, 2 deflections and 3 steals.
    • Mac Sessom scored 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 deflection and 1 steal.
    • Amelia Martinez had 4 rebounds, 1 deflection and 1 steal.
    • Jessica Mata had 1 rebound.
    • Arianna Garcia had 2 rebounds. 

Our goal is to get healthy these next few weeks so we are ready for playoffs. We will have Parents Night tomorrow as we take on Dilley. Tip off 6:15. Go Pirates!
